Respondents Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to regulate online gaming and implement the existing statutory provisions and the directions issued by this Hon'ble Court on 12.09.2017 in Suo Motu W.P.(MD) No.16668 of 2017 in light of the petitioner's representation dated 20.09.2020 and various statutory provisions and judicial pronoucements.

ORDER

(Order of the court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.K.S.Karthik Raja, learned counsel for the petitioner; Mr.G.Karthikeyan, learned ASGI for respondents 1 and 2; and, Mr.K.Karthik Jagannath, learned Government Advocate for respondents 3, 4 and 5.

2. The present petition is filed to regulate the online gaming.

3. Learned Government Advocate submits that new Act, namely, the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Act, 2022 (Act 9 of 2023) has been passed.

4. In the light of that, the prayer made in the writ petition now may not survive. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
