ORDER

The prayer in the writ petition is for a direction to the second respondent to grant necessary permission for acquisition of Indian citizenship by virtue of the marriage of the petitioner with an Indian citizen for a period of 7 years.

2. The claim of the petitioner is based on Section 5(1)(C) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955. The petitioner has made an application in MHA File No. 2024020415 dated 02.10.2024. The petitioner also made a representation dated 03.10.2024. It seems that the matter is now pending for enquiry before the District Collector.

3. In view thereof, the District Collector, Thiruvallur, shall take up the pending enquiry in the matter, expedite the same and submit the final report to the appropriate authority. Upon receipt of the report, the petitioner's application shall be finalised in accordance with law. The said exercise shall 2/4

be completed by the District Collector, Thiruvallur within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the web copy of the order and thereafter, final orders shall be passed by the first respondent or the appropriate authority within another period of eight weeks thereafter.
