For Appellant : Mr.R.Sekar, Government Advocate [Criminal Side] For Respondent : No Appearance JUDGEMENT This criminal appeal is at the instance of the State against the order of acquittal dated 09.01.2003 recorded in S.C.No.7 of 2000 by the learned VI Additional Sessions Judge, Chennai. The respondent/Accused stood charged for offences under Section 7(a) r/w 25(1-A) of The Arms Act and Section 13(2) of The Unlawful Activities [Prevention] Act, 1967. The trial court, by judgment dated 09.01.2003, acquitted the respondent from both the charges. It was this order, now under challenging in this revision petition.

2. Today, when the matter came up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate [Criminal Side] filed a memo stating that penidng appeal, the sole respondent who was the accused in S.C.No.7 of 2000 met with an accident on 14.10.2007 near District Collectorate at Thanjavur and died of injuries and a case was registered in Crime No.194 of 2017 under Sections 279, 337, 304(A) of IPC on 14.10.2017 itself and the same is now under investigation. He therefore submitted that the appeal against the respondent abates.

3. In the result, since the sole respondent/accused is reported to have died, recording the memo filed by the State, this criminal appeal is dismissed as abated.
