Ms.S.Pavithra Standing Counsel for R1 Mr.C.S.K.Sathish Standing Counsel for R2 Order The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest of 10 percent to the petitioners for belated payment of Gratuity, Leave Salary, Dearness Allowance, Provident Fund and commutation of pension amounts within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2. The case of the petitioners is that they were appointed in the respondent-Transport Corporation and retired from service on 30.04.2025, 30.04.2019, 31.05.2024, 31.05.2025, 30.06.2024, 30.04.2024 and 31.10.2024

respectively. Pursuant to the orders passed by this Court in W.P.No.665 of 2018 dated 28.03.2018 ,the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted representations to the respondents dated 09.04.2026 to 10.04.2026, requesting them to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
