Order This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.02.2026 to sanction and disburse the terminal benefits payable to the petitioner upon his retirement on 31.05.2025 such as Special Provident Fund EL Surrender, Unearned Leave Salary Commutation of pension, Gratuity and pension within a time limit that may be specified by this Court.

2. The petitioner would submit that he had joined Government service on 12.01.1987 and served as a Village Assistant under the Revenue Department. While serving as Village Assistant, a criminal case in Crime No. 11 of 2013 was registered by the Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Cuddalore, alleging the demand and acceptance of illegal gratification. Consequent to the registration of the criminal case, the petitioner was placed under suspension on 04.10.2013. Thereafter, the suspension was revoked by proceedings dated 31.12.2014, and the petitioner was reinstated in service and subsequently posted in different villages and was finally at V.O. Agaram Village. The petitioner had attained the age of superannuation and was due to retire on 31.05.2025. However, his retirement was initially withheld by proceedings dated 28.08.2025 on the ground of pending disciplinary

proceedings. Subsequently, by order dated 23.02.2026, the respondents permitted the petitioner to retire from service. Despite being permitted to retire, the petitioner has not been paid his retirement and terminal benefits or pension. The petitioner gave a written representation on 24.02.2026 seeking disbursement of the above benefits, but no action was taken by the respondents. Hence the writ petition has been filed.

4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for respondents.

Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought in this writ petition, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
