ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH, J.) This Writ Petition has been filed challenging the impugned order dated 11.04.2025, rejecting the representation of the petitioner on the ground that the life convict has not completed three years of imprisonment and hence, he is not eligible for grant of leave.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the life convict's mother is bed ridden and she requires his presence to take care of her and hence, the petitioner has sought for an ordinary leave for her husband. The learned counsel further submitted that the life convict has undergone 2 years and 11 months of imprisonment.
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor has produced the proforma of the life convict dated 29.04.2025, as well as the report of the
Probation Officer dated 06.12.2024. The Probation Officer in his report has stated that the reasons assigned by the petitioner for seeking leave for her husband/life convict are true and therefore, he has recommended to grant leave to the life convict, however with escort.
4. Considering the favourable report of the Probation Officer recommending to grant leave to the life convict, we are inclined to grant 6 days of emergency leave to the petitioner's husband/life convict.
5. Accordingly, the impugned order dated 11.04.2025 passed in RO/VLR/334/CAMP(A) by the first respondent, is hereby quashed. Consequently, the respondents herein are directed to grant 6 days Emergency Leave "without escort" to the petitioner's husband/life convict namely D.Umamaheswaran @ Micheal (458792), presently confined in Central Prison, Thorapadi, Vellore, commencing from 03.07.2025 to 08.07.2025, with a condition that the life convict shall report before the jurisdictional Police i.e. Vellore North Police Station, Vellore, daily at 10.30 A.M. After expiry of the Emergency Leave, the life convict shall surrender before the Jail Authority on 08.07.2025 before 05.30 P.M. The
prisoner shall utilize the leave only for the purpose for which it has been granted and shall not indulge in any other activities.
6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands allowed. No costs.
