This writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest @ 10% for the belated payment of terminal benefits such as Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave Salary and Commutation amount to the petitioner. ORDER
The writ petition has been filed to issue a writ of mandamus to the respondents to pay interest for the belated payment of petitioners' terminal benefits, such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Earned Leave Salary and commuted value of pension at the rate of 10 % per annum within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

The case of the petitioners is that the petitioners were appointed as Drivers, Conductors, and Helpers in the first respondent Corporation and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation as Senior Tradesmans, Special Grade Drivers, Special Grade Conductors, and Special Grade Cleaners during the year 2020, 2024 and 2025. However, their terminal benefits have
been settled to the petitioners during the year 2021, 2025 and 2026 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted a representations to the respondents on various dates seeking payment of interest for the delayed settlement of terminal benefits. Since the said representations were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.
The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that the respondents are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.
Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of eligible and admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
