ORDER
[Order of the Court was made by M.SATHYANARAYANAN, J] By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.
Mrs.Vasudha Thiagarajan, learned Additional
Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of the respondents 1 and 2 ; Mrs.P.Shanthi, learned Standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the 3rd respondent.
The petitioner claims to be a resident of Door No.28, Pillaiyar Koil Back Side, Kaspa, Vellore District and filed this writ petition as Public Interest Litigation.
The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that Ward No.55 is known as Scavenger Colony but the name should be changed as Dr.Ambedkar Nagar and though, the 3rd respondent - Local Body has made a positive recommendation, the matter is pending with the 2nd respondent for quite some time. Once again, a representation was made on 16.08.2016 to the Chief Minister's Cell to expedite the process and since he is yet to be favoured with any kind of response, the petitioner came forward to file this writ petition.
The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has drawn the attention of this Court to the proceedings of the 3rd respondent dated 10.08.2016 in Na.Ka.No.31828/2016/M2 and would submit that as per the communication received from the 2nd respondent, the matter is pending before the 1st respondent and appropriate direction may be issued to the 1st respondent to expedite the process.
This Court heard the submissions of Mrs.Vasudha Thiagarajan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 and Mrs.P.Shanthi, learned standing counsel appearing for the 3rd respondent and also perused the materials placed before it.
Though the petitioner has prayed for a larger relief, this Court, in the light of the above facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, permits the petitioner to submit one more representation to the 1st respondent along with a copy of this order and earlier representation, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and the 1st respondent, upon receipt of the same, shall take note of the proposal submitted by the 2nd respondent and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of ten weeks and thereafter communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner as well as to the 3rd respondent herein.
The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
