Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st and 2nd respondents herein to prevent and remove the encroachments in the canal bund and pathway with survey no.295 in Chinna Kottakuppam revenue Village, Vanur Taluk, Villupuram District and consequently direction to the 3rd respondent not to effect any service connections to the encroachers i.e., the respondents 4 to 6.

O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM,J.) The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to remove the encroachments in the canal bund and pathway in Survey No.295 in Chinna Kottakuppam Revenue Village, Vanur Taluk, Villupuram District and consequently direct the 3rd respondent not to Page No.2 of 5

effect any service connections to the encroachers i.e., the respondents 4 to 6. 2.

Mr.A.Selvendran, learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the 1st and 2nd respondents would submit that the Authorities will conduct a survey with reference to the Revenue Records in the subject location. If any encroachments are identified either in water bodies or in Government Poramboke lands all appropriate actions will be taken to remove such encroachments and protect the water bodies and the Government Poramboke lands.

In view of the said submission, the 1st and 2nd respondents are directed to conduct a field inspection and survey the location and thereafter initiate appropriate actions to remove the encroachments if any identified in water bodies or in Government Poramboke lands, as the case may be. The entire exercise is directed to be completed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Page No.3 of 5
