Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to

consider the representation dated 16.05.2023 seeking permission to conduct Jallikattu Event on 26.05.2023 from 08.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m. on account of Sri Mariamman Chithirai Car Festival Function at Thandagoundanpalayam, Rasipuram Taluk, Namakkal District by providing proper instruction to the fourth respondent herein in this regard.

ORDER

(Made by V.Lakshminarayanan,J) The petitioner has come up with this writ petition seeking a direction to the first respondent to consider his representation dated 16.05.2023.

2. The representation of the petitioner seeks to conduct the Jallikattu Event on 26.05.2023 during the Sri Mariammam Chithirai Car Festival at Thandagoundanpalayam, Rasipuram Taluk, Namakkal District.

3. Learned Special Government Pleader, who took notice for the respondents, submits that as per the Government Circulars and Instructions, a minimum period of one month is necessary to go through the process of granting permission and to comply with the Standard Operation Procedure for conducting Jallikattu Event. It is in order to ensure the safety measures for the bull tamers, spectators, etc. during the event.

4. In view of the above, the first respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 16.05.2023 and pass orders, after hearing the petitioner, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the same to the petitioner.

5. The writ petition is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
