Respondents Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 24.05.2017 for the renewal of contract Carriage Omni Bus permit in respect of the Vehicle Number TN-01/AL - 1171 for the period from 22.02.2017 to 21.02.2022 forthwith.

ORDER

The petitioner is holding a contract Carriage Omni Bus permit issued by the State Transport Authority, Chennai, the respondent herein, for Vehicle No. TN-01/AL - 1171. The validity thereof goes till 22.02.2017.

2.Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that due to the illness, the petitioner was unable to apply for renewal on time, but however, he has applied for renewal on 22.02.2017 with the Medical Certificate showing his bonafide and the respondent has also received his application. Till date, no order is passed. He would further submit that the petitioner has been depending upon the Omni Bus permit for his avocation and livelihood and hence, the petitioner has sent a reminder on 22.05.2018 and that was also received by the respondent on 24.05.2018 and again there is no response. Hence, he has been advised to approach this Court.

Pleader appearing for the respondent seeks three weeks time to consider the representation of the petitioner.

4. However, this court considering the long delay in considering the representations of the petitioner, grants one week time, to the respondent to consider the representations of the petitioner, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

The writ petition is disposed of, with the above direction. No costs.
