ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed for a direction to second respondent to consider petitioner's representation dated 27.03.2026 and consequently process the online passport renewal application bearing No.261054692392 dated 17.03.2026, without insisting upon Aadhaar Card and to issue the renewed passport.
2. Petitioner would submit that an inadvertent error has crept in the Aadhaar card and he had sought for amendment. He would submit that his online application dated 17.03.2026 has been kept pending without being processed for want of Aadhaar card. He would submit that in terms of the Passport Rules and the relevant forms, Aadhaar card is only one of the proofs of date of birth and as an alternate thereto, he is also permitted to produce the following:
i) Birth Certificate;
ii) Transfer/School leaving/Matriculation Certificate; iii) Aadhar Card/E-Adadhar having the date of birth of the applicant; iv) Copy of an extract of the service record of the applicant (only in respect of Government servant or the Pay Pension Order (in respect of retired Government Servants);
iv) Driving licence;
v) Election Photo Identity Card.
3. Learned counsel for petitioner would submit that petitioner's online application dated 17.03.2026 may be considered and appropriate orders may be passed, keeping in view the Passport Act and Rules.

Learned Counsel for the respondents would submit that petitioner's online application dated 17.03.2026 would be considered in accordance with existing Passport Act and Rules and appropriate order would be passed, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court, which was agreed to by learned counsel for petitioner.
5. In view thereof, there shall be a direction to respondents to consider petitioner's online application dated 17.03.2026 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders, in accordance with existing Passport Act and Rules, as expeditious as possible. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any views with regard to the merits of the case.
6. Accordingly, writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
