ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent Police not to harass the Petitioner.

2. The contention of the petitioner is that, under the guise of enquiry, the respondent Police are knocking the doors of the petitioner at odd hours, and thereby causing harassment and bringing disrepute to his name and reputation in the locality.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that one Jaison had lodged a complaint against the petitioner alleging misappropriation and cheating before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Annanagar, which was forwarded to the respondent Police. Though summons were served on the petitioner on 11.04.2026 and 13.04.2026, he failed to respond. Only thereafter, the respondent Police visited the petitioner's residence in search of him.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner will appear before the respondent Police on 30.04.2026.

5. Considering the submissions made on either side, this Court directs the petitioner to appear before the respondent Police on 30.04.2026 with supporting documents, if any. If the petitioner fails to appear on that date, the respondent Police are at liberty to proceed against the petitioner in accordance with law, including taking coercive steps.

6. With the above directions, the Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
