Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 3 to put up a new combined District Court complex in the region at Karaikal in pursuance of the Government order passed in proceedings vide G.O.Rt.No.3/2005-LD dated 21.02.2005 on the file of the 2nd respondent forthwith either by selecting a suitable site ecologically and environmentally in Karaikal region or in a site located in Ward No.F, Block No.2, T.S.No.17/4A, 17/4B1, 17/4B2, 17/4B3, 17/4C, 17/4D/1/1/1, 17/4D/1/1/2, 17/4D/1/2, 4D2, 4D3, 4D4, 4D5, 4D6, 17/5, 17/6 admeasuring to an extent of 3 H 76 A 50 CA situated at the junction of Thirunallar Road, Melakasakudy road,

within the limits of Karaikal Municipality and commission the so newly constructed a combined District Court complex at Karaikal forthwith.

O R D E R

(The Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble The Chief Justice) The grievance made in the writ petition does not survive now, though undoubtedly there has been considerable delay in the construction of the court complex at Karaikal. The tenders are now called for on 22.04.2015 and sanction for expenditure has been obtained. The construction of the court complex would be commenced and completed within two financial years and thus, the funds in the first trench were made available in the financial year 2014-2015, the second trench to be made available for the current financial year.

2. A request is made by the learned counsel for the petitioner that at least proper toilet facilities should be made available in the existing old structure, for which learned Government Pleader states that necessary action will be taken within a maximum period of two months from today.

The writ petition is closed. No costs.
