ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) In this writ petition, the petitioner has sought for orders on the respondents to allocate sufficient funds for completion of Broad Gauge rail line between Tindivanam - Tiruvannamalai.

It appears that the petitioner made a representation dated 24th December 2016 requesting that sufficient funds be allotted in the proposed Railway Budget for Financial Year 2017-2018 for new line project sanctioned by the Railway Board (Tindivanam - Gingee - Tiruvannamalai - 70 Kms.) for Rs.227.40 Crores vide letter No.2008/WI/NL/SR/TT dated 27th January 2008. The budget allocation for the year 2017-18 has already been made and a decision has also been taken to merge the railway budget for coming years with the General Budget. As such, the representation has become infructuous. Be that as it may, in effect and substance, the petitioner is agitating the demands of the people for setting up a railway line between Tindivanam - Tiruvannamalai. We dispose of the writ petition by directing the competent authorities of the respondents to take an empathetic decision on the representation of the petitioner representing the interest of public for setting up of a railway line between Tindivanam and Tiruvannamalai. No costs.
