O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for a Mandamus directing the respondents 1 & 2 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 29.05.2018 and to provide electricity supply either through existing connection bearing No.16-31-249 or through a fresh connection to the petitioner's premises bearing No.21/25, Shanmugapuram 7th Street, Plot No.76, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai - 600 019.
2.The petitioner claims to be the owner of the house bearing No.21/25, Shanmugapuram 7th Street, Plot No.76,
Thiruvottiyur, Chennai - 600 019, which was purchased by her deceased father-in-law Late Thiru.Krishna Reddy, who purchased for himself and also on behalf of the minor children under a Sale Deed dated 20.08.1973 registered as Document No.1355 of 1973 on the file of the Sub Registrar, Thiruvottiyur. Thereafter, he has also obtained electricity service connection. After the death of the petitioner's husband on 05.06.1999, she had been residing with her son in the same house alloted to the share of her husband and had been sharing the electricity consumption charges with the other legal heirs, who have been using the electricity supply connection standing in the name of her father-in-law Later Thiru.Krishna Reddy.
3.In the meanwhile, the 3rd respondent attempted to dispossess the petitioner from her portion of the property and disconnected the electricity service connection, for which a police complaint has also been given to the Santhankadu Police Station, Thiruvottiyur. Subsequently, as the electricity service connection was illegally disconnected, a representation has been given on 29.05.2018 to the respondents 1 & 2 to provide electricity supply. But till date no reply is forthcoming, as a result of which the petitioner is living without electricity. 4.At this stage, the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents 1 & 2 submitted that the petitioner has to submit a formal application, which the petitioner has not made.
As and when such an application in the prescribed format is submitted, the same would be considered by the respondents 1 & 2 and electricity service connection will be provided. 5.Recording the statement made by the learned standing counsel for the respondents 1 & 2, the petitioner is directed to submit an application in the prescribed format, along with the requisite charges, within one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the same, the respondents 1 & 2 are directed to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner within one week from the date of payment of the requisite charges by the petitioner.
6.With these directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
