ORDER
The petitioner, who is a defacto complainant, has lodged a complaint before the respondents police which has been registered in Crime No.79 of 2024 for the offences under sections 420, 465, 467, 468 of IPC and section 66D of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 and as there was no progress in the investigation, he has filed the present petition. 2.It is the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner that though the FIR has been registered as early as on 14.03.2024, till date no progress has happened in the investigation. The petitioner though has made a representation to the second respondent, but he could not get proper response. The petitioner is aged 76 years and a senior citizen. The huge delay in conducting investigation has caused mental agony to the petitioner and therefore, the present petition has been filed seeking direction to respondents police to complete the investigation and to file the final report.
3.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) has submitted that on the complaint of the petitioner, six persons have been arrested and accused 2/5
no.1 was also arrested in this case. The electronic devices have been seized and were sent to forensic examination. It is further submitted that some witnesses have been examined and their statements were also recorded. The case is pending for forensic report and the respondents police are also following the matter with the forensic department officials. It is the submission of the learned Government Advocate that as and when the report is received, the respondents police will complete the investigation and file the final report within a period of six months thereafter.
4.This court heard the submissions of both sides. The statement made by the learned Government Advocate that once the report from the forensic department is received, the investigation will be completed and final report will be filed within a period of six months thereafter is recorded. In the light of the above and recording the statement of the learned Government Advocate, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
