ORDER

Earlier, by an order dated 30.04.2025, this Court directed the learned XX Additional City Civil Court, Chennai, to dispose of O.S. No. 2317 of 2022 within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of the said order. As the suit could not be disposed of within the stipulated time, the Court below, by letter dated 17.03.2026, sought extension of time. Hence, the matter is listed before this Court.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the plaintiff submitted that, in order to protract the proceedings, the defendant has filed an eschew petition in I.A. No. 7 of 2026 without any merit. It is further submitted that the plaintiff is aged above 70 years and the suit has been filed for recovery of arrears of rent and damages, wherein a sum of Rs.75,000/- per month has been claimed.

3. Considering the request made by the learned XX Additional City Civil Court, Chennai, this Court is inclined to extend the time by a further period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order to comply with the earlier directions of this Court. However, it is made clear that no further extension of time will be granted.
