With the consent of both sides, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. 1/4

This writ petition is filed for a direction to the respondent to issue joint patta in the name of the petitioner and his wife V.Thulasi, in respect of the property in S.No.20316 to an extent of 825 sq.ft., Otteri, Tank Bund Road, Chennai 600 012, by disposing of the petitioner's representation dated 16.02.2024.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent and perused the materials available on record.

According to the petitioner, he along with his wife and mother-inlaw, jointly purchased the subject property through a Sale Deed dated 27.08.2007 and the petitioner is residing in the said property with his family. While so, the petitioner's mother-in-law died on 14.04.2023. Since the petitioner's wife is the sole legal heir of his deceased mother-inlaw, the petitioner sent a representation dated 16.02.2024 to the respondent, requesting grant of joint patta in favour of the petitioner and his wife. Since no action has been taken by the respondents on the said representation, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition. 2/4

5. Considering the limited relief sought in this writ petition, there shall be a direction to the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 16.02.2024 and pass orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
