ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent herein to settle 6% interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits to the 45 members of the petitioners Association herein as per the list enclosed herewith by considering their individual representation dated 30.03.2026.

2. The case of the petitioner Association is that 45 of its members joined the service of the respondent Corporation and retired on various dates. Although they have retired, their terminal benefits were settled only on 11.03.2026, after an inordinate delay. Consequently, the petitioner Association has claimed 6% interest on the delayed payment of these terminal benefits. They submitted representations dated 30.03.2026 to the respondents requesting this interest, but these have evoked no response so far. Left with no other alternative, the petitioner Association has approached this Court.

3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

4. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
