Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the representation dated 21.7.2014 and the reminder thereto dated 9.10.2015, seeking consideration for appointment as Assistant Professor in the existing vacancies, on merits and within a time to be stipulated by this Hon'ble Court. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

2.The petitioners would state that they belong to Backward Community and qualified with Commerce as well as Doctorate in the relevant field. On 14.08.2008, advertisement was issued for filling up the post of Assistant Professor and the petitioner have took part in the selection process and are awaiting for the appointment.

However, un-successful candidates has made challenge by filing W.P.No.24015 of 2008 and 23574 of 2008 and

interim orders were passed directing to keep two post vacant. The said writ petitions were also disposed of. It is stated by the petitioner that in terms of G.O.Ms.No.248, Higher Education (F2) Department dated 21.12.2012, posts were directed to be filled up, and two candidates were selected and petitioners have to be accommodated and vide G.O.Ms.No.53, Higher Education (F2) Department dated 16.04.2014, appointment given to three persons were cancelled and therefore, as a consequence the petitioners are entitled to be accommodated in the said vacancies and in this regard submitted a representation dated 21.07.2014 followed by a reminder dated 09.10.2015 and since no orders have been passed, came forward to file this writ petition. 3.Heard the submissions of Mr.L.Chandrakumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.V.Subbiah, learned Special Government Pleader who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

4.Though the petitioners prayed for the larger relief, this Court in the light of the above facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the same, directs the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 21.07.2014 and the reminder dated 09.10.2015 on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
