Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 & 2 to cancel the patta issued in favour of third parties in respect of the landed properties situated at Sankarapuram Taluk, Kallakurichi District, comprised in S.Nos.3/2A, 3/2B, 3/2C and properties situated at Kattuvannanjur, comprised in Village S.No.217/3, S.No.218/2 and S.No.218/8 and to restore its original status by considering the representation made by the petitioner dated 09.01.2026.

ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for early disposal of the petitioner's representation, dated 09.01.2026 seeking for cancellation of 1/5

patta standing in the name of unknown persons for the property more fully disclosed in the prayer to this Writ Petition.

2. According to the petitioner, erroneously, pursuant to the UDR scheme, patta has been issued for the subject property in the name of unknown persons. The petitioner seeks for cancellation of the said patta. The petitioner has filed supporting documents along with this Writ Petition in support of the petitioner's request seeking for cancellation of the patta standing in the name of unknown persons for the property more fully disclosed in the prayer to this Writ Petition.

3. Mr.S.Arumugam, learned Government Advocate accepts notice for the respondents.

4. No prejudice will be caused to the respondents if the petitioner's representation, seeking for cancellation of the patta standing in the name of unknown persons for the property more fully disclosed in the prayer to this Writ Petition, is considered on merits and in accordance with law after hearing the objections of all the necessary parties, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. As seen from the documents filed along 2/5

with this Writ Petition, proceedings have already been initiated by the first respondent based on the petitioner's representation seeking for cancellation of the patta. This Court is not expressing any opinion on the merits of the respective contentions.

For the foregoing reasons, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the first respondent to pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's representation, dated 09.01.2026 seeking for cancellation of the patta standing in the name of unknown persons for the property more fully disclosed in the prayer to this Writ Petition after giving due consideration to the supporting documents produced by the petitioner and after hearing the objections of all the necessary parties which includes the persons, in whose name presently, the patta stands, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
