This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 12 percentage per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits, viz., Provident Fund, Gratuity, and Surrender Leave Salary and Commutation amounting to Rs.38,26,461/- for the period from 31.12.2024 to 11.03.2026. WP No. 19846 of 2026 Prayer:

This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 12 percentage per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits, viz., Provident Fund, Gratuity, and Surrender Leave Salary and Commutation amounting to Rs.85,55,906/- for the period from 30.06.2024 to 02.12.2025.

WP No. 19848 of 2026 Prayer:

This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 12 percentage per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits, viz., Provident Fund, Gratuity amounting to Rs.17,84,702/- for the period from 25.12.2023 to 28.10.2025.

In all petitions Mrs. S.Pavithra Standing Counsel R1 & R2 Order These writ petitions are filed for the following relief: "To direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 12 percentage per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits."

2. The case of the petitioners is that they were appointed in the respondent corporation in the years 1992 and 1996 respectively. The husband of the petitioner in WP.No.19848 of 2026 had passed away in the year 2023, before his retirement. The other petitioners have retired in the year 2024. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners belatedly and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted representations to the respondents

to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petitions have been filed.

3.The learned Standing Counsel would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

5.In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction, these writ petitions are disposed of. No costs.
