... Respondent Prayer:

Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for records of the respondent in connection with the impugned order passed by the respondent in R.C.No.170075/NGB.V(2)/2005 dated 09.09.2005 and quash the same and further direct the respondent to give accelerated promotion to the petitioner as Inspector of Police, A.R. from 30.10.2004 with all consequential service and monetary benefits.

For Petitioner : Mr. K.Venkatramani Senior Counsel for Mr.M.Muthappan For Respondent : Mr.K.RaviKumar, Additional Government Pleader

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner challenging the order of the respondent and to give accelerated promotion to the petitioner as Inspector of Police.

2. It is evident from the materials available on record that the petitioner entered into the Armed Reserve Police service as Grade-II Police Constable on 14.03.1979. Subsequently, he got promotions periodically and on completion of 25 years of service, he was upgraded as a Special SubInspector of Police, Armed Reserve from 01.06.2004. While so, the petitioner submitted a petition on 04.08.2005 to the Director General of Police, on the Grievance Day, requesting promotion as Inspector of Police.

3. The request of the petitioner for promotion to the post of Inspector of Police was rejected by the respondent on the ground that there is no provision in the Rules to promote an Special Sub-Inspector of Police as Inspector of Police and the next avenue promotion from Special Sub-Inspector of Police is regular Sub-Inspector of Police, which he has been rightly conferred subsequently.

4. It is also evident that the accelerated promotions to the post of Inspector of police were given in the year 2007, in the absence of the interim order. Now, after the lapse of 11 years, I do not find any reason to interfere with the impugned order passed by the respondent.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed as infructuous.
