(Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN,J.) The petitioner seeks permission to deposit the rent for the period from March 2021 to September 2022.

2. As per the order in writ appeal, the petitioners who are the tenants occupying the ground plus two floors of the building were directed to deposit the rent in this Court on or before 10th of every succeeding month. It appears that they have been depositing the rent till March 2021 without default. However, in view of the pandemic, rents for the subsequent period were not deposited in time. When an attempt was made to deposit later, the Registrar General has refused to accept the deposit as it is not within the time granted by the Court in the order made in the writ appeal. Hence, this petition.

Taking into account the lock down imposed due to pandemic and the fact that the suit in C.S.No.864 of 2001 and another suit which have now been renumbered as O.S.Nos.1913 and 1914 of 2021 are pending on the file of the IV Additional Judge, City Civil Court, Chennai, this application is allowed and permission is granted to the petitioners to deposit the rent for the period from March 2021 to September 2022 on or before 15th of November 2022. The rent for October 2022 shall be deposited as per the order in the writ appeal and the rent for the subsequent months shall be deposited on or before 10th of every succeeding month as directed in the order in the writ appeal.
