PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, to direct the Respondent to Expedite the investigation and file final report within a stipulated time in Crime No.1626 of 2020 on the file of the Inspector of Police, Vellore Taluk Police Station, Vellore District.

ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondent police to expedite the investigation and file final report in Crime N.1626 of 2020.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that though the respondent has registered a case in the above said crime number on 15.11.2021, no final report is filed till date.

3. The learned Government Advocate (crl. side) appearing for the respondent would submit that initially, First Information Report was registered under Section 174 Cr.P.C and thereafter, it was altered into 306 IPC after obtaining report from the concerned authorities. Now, Investigation in this case is almost over and awaiting report. He would further submit that the respondent police may be permitted to file a final report within a period of two months.

4. In view of the above submission, the respondent police is directed to either file a final report or closure report, as the case may be, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order under due intimation to the defacto complainant.

5. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
