Respondent/Accused PRAYER: This Criminal Original Petition has been filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C, to set aside the judgment of acquittal of the respondent/accused passed in C.C.No.134 of 2011 (Old C.C.No.02/2008), dated 29.11.2013 by the Special Court for the Cases Under Prevention of Corruption Act at Chennai and convict the respondent/accused for the charges framed against him in the interest of justice.

ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the State against the order of acquittal passed in C.C.No.134 of 2011 (Old C.C.No.02/2008), by the Special Court for the Cases under Prevention of Corruption Act at Chennai, dated 29.11.2013. 2.The respondent/accused viz., Manimegalai, is the former Administrative Officer in the Stanley Government Officer.

3.By an order dated 29.11.2013, after trial, the learned Special Judge for the Cases Under Prevention of Corruption Act at Chennai, has held that the charges filed against the petitioner are not proved beyond reasonable doubt and accordingly, acquitted the accused. Hence, the State has preferred the present Criminal Appeal.

4.Now, the learned counsel for the respondent would submit that the sole respondent/accused reported dead on 26.04.2022. Hence, the proceedings in this Criminal Appeal stands abated.

5.Accordingly, this Criminal Appeal stands dismissed as abated.
