Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, direct the respondents to award five marks for weightage to the petitioner for having passed the TNTET Paper - II in the year 2013 in conformity with the clause 11 (C) (vi)of Notification No.03 / 2023 dated 25.10.2023 issued by the 2nd respondent and consequently consider the petitioner for appointment to the posts of Graduate Teachers / Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTE) in pursuant to the Notification No. 03 / 2023 dated 25.10.2023 within the period that may be stipulated by this Hon'ble Court. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to award five marks for weightage to the petitioner for having passed the TNTET Paper - II in the year 2013 in conformity with the clause 11 (C) (vi) of Notification No.03 / 2023
dated 25.10.2023 issued by the 2nd respondent and consequently consider the petitioner for appointment to the posts of Graduate Teachers / Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTE) in pursuant to the Notification No. 03 / 2023 dated 25.10.2023 within the period that may be stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner is qualified with B.A (English) and qualified with Teacher Eligibility Test in the year 2013 for the post of Teacher. In the year 2019, the petitioner had completed his degree in Geography and qualified with Teacher Eligibility Test in the year 2022 for the subject of Geography. Thereafter, he had applied for the post of Graduate Teacher as per the Notification No.03/2023 dated 25.10.2023. However, the petitioner was not selected for certificate verification. The petitioner, now sought for weightage marks for the earlier qualification in Teacher Eligibility Test as per the notification.

The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents 2 and 3 submitted that the petitioner obtained the qualification under Teacher Eligibility Test, in the year 2013 for the subject of English. The petitioner had not even possessed any degree in Geography at that juncture. Only in the year 2019, he had completed the degree in Geography and qualified in Teacher Eligibility Test, only in the year 2022 for the subject of Geography. Therefore, no weightage marks can be given to the petitioner.
5. In view of the above, the request made by the petitioner cannot be considered and the writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed.
