By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The case of the petitioner is that he participated in the Selection process for recruitment to the post of SubInspector of Police in the year 2007-2008 and he was appointed as Sub-Inspector of Police.

3. The petitioner would submit that there are three categories in the police department namely 1.Taluk police (L&O), 2.Armed Reserve (AR) and 3.Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

the person, who completes five years of service in any one of the aforesaid categories, is entitled for conversion to other categories.

Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 11.10.2015 to the respondents for conversion from category-III to category-I, which is not considered. Hence, the present writ petition.

4. Heard the submission of Mr.S.Sivakumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5. This Court considering the limited scope of prayer sought for by the petitioner and without going into the merits of the case, directs the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.10.2015 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken by him to the petitioner.
