The petitioner seeks direction upon the respondent/Police to register a case on his complaint, dated 20.02.2015.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the Additional Public Prosecutor, representing the respondent/Police.

It is seen that the petitioner has lodged his complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, viz., the respondent herein, and not to the local Police Station. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition is closed with liberty to the petitioner to go in person and lodge his complaint before the concerned Station House Officer. On receipt of such complaint, the Station House Officer is directed to investigate into the matter and register a crime, if cognizable offence is made out, by following the dictum laid down by the Hon'ble Apex Court in Lalita Kumari vs. Govt. of U.P. & others reported in [2013 (4) Crimes 243 (SC)].
