PRAYER :

Writ Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, direct the 1st respondent shifting the Switch Board from the petitioner land comprised in Survey No.22/9, Vazhavanthankuppam Village, Kallakurichi Taluk, Villupuram District to available adjacent Poromboke land, Vazhavanthankuppam and pay the damages caused by the Switch Board to the petitioner crops destroyed by the short circuit of Tamilnadu Electricity Board on 19.7.2011 and subsequent events happen the damages to the petitioner for a sum of Rs.8,00,000.00 (Rupees Eight Lakhs only) as compensation or further orders.

O R D E R

The grievances of the writ petitioner is that the Switch Board commissioned in the petitioner's land is causing inconvenience and damages. The petitioner states that crops are destroyed by short circuit on account of poor maintenance by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

2. This Court of the opinion that in the event of any complaint by the consumer, the Board authorities are bound to conduct an inspection and rectify the complaints, if any, in respect of supply of electricity to the consumers. The petitioner states that the Switch Board commissioned in the petitioner's land is causing inconvenience.

3. Thus, the respondents are directed to conduct an inspection and initiate all appropriate steps to rectify the complaint as expeditiously as possible.

4. With this direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
