The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 02.06.2024 in connection with Crime No.201 of 2024 registered for the alleged offences punishable under Section 306 of IPC and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002, seeks bail.
2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that the petitioner was arrested in this case, since he happened to be the friend of the deceased/victim's husband. He also submitted that the petitioner has neither harassed nor abetted the victim to commit suicide, whereas, he is suffering incarceration from 02.06.2024. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by any stringent conditions that may be imposed by this Court, hence he prayed for grant of bail to the petitioner.

Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that the deceased/victim, after the death of her husband was living in Karimangalam along with her two children, during which, she developed a relationship with the petitioner herein and there was a financial transactions between them. He further submitted that when the deceased/victim demanded the petitioner to return the money given by her, the petitioner had abused her and refused to repay the money. Thereby, due to the frustration and humiliation caused by the accused, the victim had committed suicide by hanging. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

4. He further submitted that the investigation in this case is still pending and this case needs a detailed investigation. Hence he prayed for dismissal of the petition.
5. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of this case and the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) that the investigation in this case is at the initial stage and also considering the gravity of the offence, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
