ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 to 6 to direct the seventh respondent college to immediately disburse the arrears of salary payable to the petitioner as Assistant Professor in Economics, under the University Grants Commission's Innovative Programme in the Department of Economics of the seventh Respondent/ GVG visalakshi College for Women, Udumalpet vide appointment letter No./GVGVC/65A/2012-2013 dated 16.07.2012, an amount of Rs.25,47,818/- (Rupees Twenty Five Lakhs Forty Seven Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighteen only) payable to her, as the seventh respondent /College is withholding the payment disbursed by the first respondent under the UGC-Innovative Programme Scheme to the seventh respondent College within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. Despite service of notice, none appeared on behalf of the seventh respondent.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was appointed as Assistant Professor in Economics in the seventh respondent college for the first respondent/University Grants Commission's (UGC) Innovative programme and she served during the period 2012-2017, however on completion of the said programme, the salary was not paid to her for the period between 2014 and March 2017 by the seventh respondent. He further submitted that the petitioner applied under the Right to Information Act for non payment of arrears of salary for which she received the letter dated 21.08.

2024 addressed to the Principal of the seventh respondent college from the second respondent stating that the said amount was remitted to the account of the seventh respondent college by the first respondent and they received No objection Certificate from them in the year 2016 itself, but the same was denied by the seventh respondent. He continued that despite several representations [01.10.2024 & 10.10.2024], there was inaction on the part of the seventh respondent to disburse the arrears of salary payable to her and hence, the present Writ Petition.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the seventh respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 10.10.2024 in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. There shall be no orders as to costs.
