ORDER

This Court by its order dated 17.10.2022 in W.P.No.4440 of 2015 directed the respondents to disburse the compensation amount to the petitioners with applicable interest and furnish them a copy of the Award dated 28.09.1998, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. On receipt of such copy of the Award, the petitioners were given liberty to file a suit under Section 9 of the Act 1978 before the competent Civil Court, for enhancement of compensation. On such suit being filed, the competent Civil Court was directed to decide the issue and pass appropriate orders on merits. However, the said order is not complied with. Hence, the Contempt Petition is filed.

2.The learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents submitted that the respondents have submitted a sum of Rs.1,70,547/- towards the compensation with interest, on the file of the Sub Judge Kallakurichi vide cheque bearing no.638249 dated 25.09.2025 and that the Award copy dated 28.09.1998 will also be communicated to the petitioners within a period of one (1) week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, if not already communicated.
