This Criminal Miscellaneous Petition has been filed seeking to amend the name of the petitioner as Sriraman @ Siraman instead of Sriraman in Crl.O.P.No.8499 of 2026 vide order dated 06.04.2026. 1 / 4

When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's name has been misspelled in the anticipatory bail petition filed in Crl.O.P.No.8499 of 2026. Further, the offence under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (Amendment) Act, 2002, was also inadvertently omitted in the first paragraph of the petition. Hence, he prayed to amend the name of the petitioner and to include the aforesaid offence registered in Crime No.66 of 2026 in Crl.O.P.No.8499 of 2026.

At the outset, it is worth pointing out that the relief sought by the petitioner to amend the offences registered in Crime No.66 of 2026 has not been mentioned in the prayer. However, taking note of the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the reasons adduced in the affidavit filed in support of this petition, this Court directs the Registry to amend the name of the petitioner as Sriraman @ Siraman and shall also include the offence under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (Amendment) Act, 2002, in Crl.O.P.No.8499 of 2026 and issue fresh copy of the order dated 06.04.2026.

Furthermore, the time for executing the sureties stands extended for a further period of one week from today (27.05.2026). No further extension will be granted to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the Criminal Miscellaneous Petition is ordered. 27.05.2026 ham Note:
