ORDER

The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus, to direct the respondents to pay 6% interest towards belated payment of terminal benefits such as provident fund, gratuity, leave salary and commutation of pension amount to the petitioner.

2. The case of the petitioner is that he was an employee of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation(VPM) Ltd, Kancheepuram Region, Kancheepuam and he was retired from service on 30.06.2023 on attaining the age of superannuation in the cadre of Foreman. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to petitioner only on 16.04.2025 and 17.04.2025 respectively, after a lapse of two years and no interest has been paid for the delayed period.. In view of the same, on 22.04.2025, the petitioner has sent a representation to the respondents to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the materials available on record.

4. The learned counsel for the respondents fairly submit that they would pay 6% interest upon the eligible retirement benefits of the petitioner.

5. In view of the same, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay the eligible and admissible amount with interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of 2/4

retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of.
