other solid wastes in the public street known as Hunters Road/Gopal Menon Street by considering petitioner's representation dated 13.3.2024.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to take immediate steps for preventing the illegal dumping of garbage and other solid wastes in the public street, namely, Hunters Road/Gopal Menon Street, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 13.3.2024.

2. Today, when the writ petition is taken up for hearing, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondent No.2 by producing a communication dated 2.5.2024 of the Inspector of Police, G-1 Vepery Traffic Police Station, submitted that the traffic in the area in question has been regulated and fine has been imposed on the violators.

3. Learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Greater Chennai Corporation, on instructions, submitted that all the garbage and solid waste have been removed from the area in question.

4. Learned Additional Pubic Prosecutor and learned Standing Counsel for the Greater Chennai Corporation jointly submit that continuous monitoring qua dumping of garbage and traffic congestion not only in the area in question, but also in and around the said area, will be undertaken by the officials.

5. Recording the said statements made by learned Additional Public Prosecutor for respondent No.2 and learned Standing Counsel

for respondents 1 and 3, the writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, W.M.P.No.18200 of 2024 is closed.
