O R D E R

The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 28.08.2012 forwarded by letter

dated 29.11.2012 by the Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Land Administration, Chennai, as per law, after hearing the petitioner for the grant of patta in the name of the petitioner Bajanai Madam for the property of an extent of 12300 sq.ft., comprised in Survey No.495/1, Arumbavur Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Perambalur District.

2.Mr.V.Ravi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's appeal dated 28.08.2012 preferred to the 1st respondent has not yet been disposed of (i.e.) even after a lapse of nearly eight years. 3.Ms.A.Madhumathi, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 submitted that the 1st respondent may be directed to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 28.08.2012 in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks.

4.Mr.P.S.Sivashanmugasundaram, learned counsel appearing for the 3rd respondent also re-iterated the stand of the learned Special Government Pleader.

5.Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, taking into consideration the limited prayer sought for in the Writ Petition, without expressing any opinion with regard to the merits of the case, I direct the 1st respondent to dispose of the appeal dated 28.08.2012 filed by the petitioner, on merits and in accordance with law, after giving an opportunity of hearing to all the interested parties, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With these observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
