ORDER

This civil revision petition has been filed seeking direction to the learned Judicial Magistrate, Additional Mahila Court, Cuddalore to dispose of the case in DVC No.33 of 2023, within the time limit, fixed by this court.

2. A perusal of the typed set of papers would indicate that the respondent/wife preferred a complaint against the petitioner/husband seeking various reliefs under Sections 18, 19, 20 and 22 of Domestic Violence Act. The said complaint was taken on file and notice was issued to the petitioner on 06.01.2024.

3. A perusal of the adjudication sheets filed in the typed set of papers would indicate that on all subsequent hearings, the respondent, who preferred the complaint was absent and therefore, there was no substantial progress in the matter. It is also seen that the petitioner was present before the Additional Mahila Court, Cuddalore on most of the hearings, though the respondent/complainant failed to appear on all the dates.

4. Taking into consideration that the complaint under the Domestic Violence Act was laid as early as in the year 2023 and that there is no substantial progress in the case for the past 2 years, this court is inclined to direct the learned Judicial Magistrare, Additional Mahila Court, Cuddalore to dispose of the complaint in DVC No.33 of 2023, as expeditiously as possible.

5. With the above direction, this civil revision petition is allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
