ORDER

The prayer made in this writ petition is to issue a mandamus, directing the respondent police to forthwith return the MARUTHI OMNI VAN bearing Registration No.TN 34 L 9441, which was under the custody of the respondent from 21.12.2013, to the petitioner.

2.According to the petitioner, he is the owner of the subject vehicle, which is used as call taxi. On 21.12.2013, the subject vehicle was seized by the respondent police in connection with the complaint lodged by one Suganya W/o.Manickam, against one Gopal and his friends, who engaged the said vehicle on hire. Stating that the petitioner is in no way connected with the alleged complaint and his vehicle was wrongly seized by the respondent police, he sent a representation dated 20.03.2014 to the respondent requesting him to release the subject vehicle. Since the said representation was not considered, he has come forward with this writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

3.There is no representation for the petitioner either in person or through his learned counsel. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent is also not in a position to state the present status of the representation submitted by the petitioner.

4.In view of the above, this Court finds it appropriate to direct the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.03.2014, if not considered earlier and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
