By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the time of admission.

2. According to the petitioner, he entered the service as a Fireman through Selection conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board and appointed to Service in Nagapattinam Division on 09.9.1996. Thereafter, the petitioner was promoted to the post of Driver Fireman on 14.3.2005 but, due to family circumstances, he relinquished his promotion https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

temporarily for a period of three years. After the expiry of the period, the petitioner made representations to the respondents on 10.9.2015 and 23.11.2015 requesting them to give promotion. Since no action has been taken so far, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Heard the learned Senior Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of respondents.

4. Though the petitioner has prayed for a larger relief, this Court in the light of the above facts and circumstances, directs the petitioner to give fresh representation to the third respondent enclosing the copy of this order along with relevant documents within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and on receipt of the same, the third respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks thereafter and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
