PRAYER:

This petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondent University to process the application of the petitioner dated 30.09.2015 submitted to the respondent including the inspection and to pass a final order thereon for grant of affiliation to the petitioner College viz., St Mary's College of Education, Vadamalai Samudram, Vikramasingapuram, Ambasamudram Taluk, Tirunelveli District, for conducting B.Ed programme (2 years duration) with an annual intake of 100 seats (2 units) from the academic session 2015-16.

ORDER

The petitioner which is Teachers Training Institute, made an application on 30.09.2015 seeking grant of permission for conducting B.Ed program with an annual intake of 100 seats for the academic year 2015-16. Though the application was made on 30.09.2015, no further progress has been made thereafter, and hence, the present writ petition is filed by the petitioner before this Court.

2. When the matter is taken up today, Mr.U.Venkatesan, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that the application made by the petitioner would be processed and orders will be passed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

3. Considering the submission made in this regard, without going into the merits of the case, the respondent is directed to pass appropriate orders on the application of the petitioner dated 30.09.2015, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
