ORDER

Heard Mr.K.Jaya Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Vijayakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondent.

2. The petitioner seeks for the issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent-Pallavaram Municipality to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 27.12.2014 for change of name in the birth certificate.

3. According to the petitioner, he has submitted a representation before the respondent on 27.12.2014 for change of his name in the birth certificates of his son and daughter as per the publication made in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated 26.05.2000. Since, till date the same is not considered by the respondent, the petitioner is before this Court in this writ petition.

4. In the light of the above, without going into the merits of the petitioner's contentions, there will be a direction to the respondent to consider and pass orders on the representation made by https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

the petitioner dated 27.12.2014 on merits and in accordance with law. Such an order shall be complied with by the respondent within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
