ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for direction directing the respondent to consider the petitioner due to his age, experience, seniority of course completion and employment Registration to the post of Assistant Engineer.

2. There is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. Heard the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner had passed BE (EEE) and registered his name in the Employment Exchange. Subsequent to the notification issued by the respondent to the post of Assistant Engineer, the petitioner applied for the same and he was called for an interview. He attended the interview for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical in Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation. However, he was not selected to the said post, on the ground that he has not reached the cut off dates. That apart, the petitioner was not sponsored by the Employment Exchange for the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical. He is also barred by age. The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued prescribed qualifications and the candidates who possess the

qualification including experience prescribed for the post, on the date of notification of vacancy are eligible. The petitioner did not possess any experience qualification as an Apprentice in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Therefore, the petitioner was not selected to the post of Assistant Engineer and as such, the relief sought for in this writ petition cannot be considered.

4. In view of the above, this writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
