Heard Mr.V.R.Kamalanathan, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mrs.P.Kritika Kamal, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondents.

2. The present Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to grant permission and protection to conduct MANJU VIRATTU function at Shesha Samuthiram Village, Sangarapuram taluk, Villupuram District Scheduled to be held on 16.01.2018.

3. According to the petitioner, Manju Virattu has been protected by the Act of the Government and to avoid untoward incident, necessary protection has to be extended to the petitioner for conducting Manju Virattu on 16.01.2018, in a peaceful manner at Shesha Samuthiram Village, Sangarapuram https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. Manju Virattu is a customary practise and a game permissible since time immemorial. The permission to perform Manju Virattu would be subject to maintenance of law and order situation and therefore, it is for the respondents herein to take care of the situation and to see that no untoward incident happens, by providing necessary police protection.

5. With the above observation, the Criminal Original petition is disposed of.
