(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner prays for decision on his representation dated 06.1.2012 for initiation of steps to create a Southern Water Grid by linking all the South Indian Rivers, nationalize the South Indian Rivers and establish a Statutory Authority, under whose control the rivers would be.
2. The counter-affidavit of the respondents, affirmed on 29.10.2013 points out that the Hon'ble Supreme Court in W.P. (Civil) No.512 of 2002 and W.P.(Civil) No.668 of 2002 delivered on 27.02.2012, had recommended that these projects are in the national interest, as per the unanimous view of all experts and thus, it was desirable that an appropriate body should be created for planning out the same. The Ministry of Water Resources vide its Office Memorandum dated 06.5.2013, considering the nominations received from the States concerned, took necessary action and really speaking, the present petition has become infructuous on account of the subsequent orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, as the Special Committee was constituted.
3. Taking note of the aforesaid position, we close the proceedings. No costs.
