PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Cr.P.C., to direct the respondents to give sufficient police protection to the lorries which are carrying water to the petitioner's premises when it enters the Moogambigai Nagar Road, Ramapuram, Chennai 600 089 to unload the water to the petitioner's premises pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 18.06.2019.

This petition has been filed seeking for police protection to enable the petitioner to carry water to the premises belonging to the petitioner.

The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is purchasing water from some private parties and transporting the same to his establishment, where the water is being packeted and sold.

It seems that some persons are restraining the water lorry from entering the premises of the petitioner and hence, the complaint has been given to the police. 4.
The relief as sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted by this Court. The 3rd respondent police shall enquire the parties and see if the petitioner has sufficient license to transport the water and sell to the general public. In such a case, the police can always call the persons belonging to the locality and try to amicably settle the dispute. It is made clear that the police shall ensure that there is no law and order problem caused due to the dispute, since there is already water scarcity suffered by the entire city of Chennai.

This Criminal Original petition is disposed of with the above directions.
