The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 17.05.2024 in Crime No.194 of 2024, for the offences punishable under Sections 419, 420, 507 of IPC read with Section 66D of the Information Technology Act on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case . He would submit that he is in jail from 17.05.2024. Hence, he prayed to grant bail to the petitioner.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that, defacto complainant download an "Say Hi" Online Dating App created by the accused persons. In that, one Akila called the defacto complainant for sexual chat and demanded money for the same and on fear of threatening he sent Rs.500/- through Online. Later he uninstalled the App since there are several fake calls received in the App. This being so, on 02.02.2024, petitioner received an anonymous call to his mobile phone stating that the person who called him posed himsel that he is a Inspector of Police of Cyber Crime and a lady one Akila who was sent Rs.500/- by this petitioner through the above said App has committed suicide and theretened him and thereby demanded money. For which, defacto complainant sent a sum of Rs.13,000/- through Online.

However, accused persons continued to demand money from the defacto complainant. He further submitted that, petitioner is the one who called the defacto complainant through phone stating that he is the Inspector of Police of Cyber Crime. He further submitted that, now the account of the petitioner was freezed and all the accused in this case were secured.

4. Considering the gravity of the offence committed by the petitioner, which is serious and heinous in nature, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
