R2 Suo Motu impleaded as per order dated 24.06.2024 in Crl.O.P.No.14666 of 2024 Prayer: Criminal Original Petition has been filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C., directing the respondent police to file a final report in Crime No.1466 of 2018 on the file of the respondent police within a stipulated period of time. O R D E R

The petitioner herein, who gave a complaint on 29.12.2018 before the Thiruvottiyur Police Station alleging that he being informant to the police, there is a life threat to him. Since the complaint was not taken up for investigation, even after three years of its registration, earlier the petitioner has filed Crl.O.P.No.9748 of 2021 for speedy investigation. Considering the nature of the complaint, this Court disposed of the said petition on 03.06.2021 with a direction to the police to complete the investigation and file final report within a period of one month.

2. Despite specific direction, there was no progress in the investigation which has forced the petitioner herein to file 2nd petition for the same relief.

3. At times, this Court on perusing the petition filed in Crl.O.P.No.14666 of 2024, recording that even after six years of its registration and three years after Court direction, the respondent police has not completed the investigation. Therefore, suo motu impleaded Director General of Police, 2/4

Today, when the matter taken up for consideration, the Inspector of Police has filed status report wherein it is stated that on completion of investigating final report filed on 24.06.2024 vide RCS No.H8/RCS/12/2024. It is also stated in the status report that Director General of Police, has taken note of the observation made by this Court on 24.06.2024 and directed his subordinates to scrupulously follow the directions of the Court. That apart, it is also stated that the against Officers who were in-charge of the station during the said period committed serious lapse and dereliction of duty, action been taken. The action of the Director General of Police and the circular issued to all his subordinates is appreciated and taken on record. The petitioner herein, if aggrieved by the RCS report, shall work out his remedy by filing a protest petition before the Court concerned.

5. With this observation, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
