PRAYER Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue writ of mandamus directing to conduct an inquiry into the various violations of the quarries operating in Villiyanallur and Velingapattu villages in Survey Nos.124/2A, and 123/2B of Velangipattu (Athiyanallur) Village, and 112/9, 112/11, 112/12 of Villiyanallur Village at Bhuvanagiri Taluk, Cuddalore District and suspend forthwith the existing quarry permits issued in the name of 5 th and th Respondents by considering petitioner representation dated 12.03.2025. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to conduct an inquiry into the various violations of the quarries operating in Villiyanallur and Velingapattu villages in Survey Nos.124/2A, and 123/2B of Velangipattu (Athiyanallur) Village, and 112/9, 112/11, 112/12 of Villiyanallur Village at Bhuvanagiri Taluk, Cuddalore District and suspend forthwith the existing quarry permits issued in the name of 5th respondents by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.03.2025.

When this matter was taken up, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the first to fourth respondents had written instructions and submitted that even though the lease of quarry was granted in favour of the fifth and sixth respondents, the lease period expired on 06.12.2024. Further the Tashildar had conducted an inspection and furnished a report, stating that no quarrying operation was carried out after the expiry of the lease period. 3.

Recording the same, this writ petition is disposed of. However, it is made clear that the official respondent shall ensure that no such illegal activities are carried out where the lease of the quarries have expired. Costs made easy. 09-05-2025 Index:Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Internet:Yes
